Tortoise revisited...

Second attempt at the tortoise... used an 80gm A4 paper instead of cartridge paper... turned out quite well, but for more details still need larger paper... just now come back forget to buy.. argh.. then lazy to go out again... so make do with A4... rather small outcome... 5cm x 7cm... cute cute

Tortoise going right...

Small tortoise on my hand...

Reflections (Disney version)

Nice song from mulan... can only find the film version though... not the pop version... lacking the bridge... but had fun playing :)

Going green...

Unveiling my two latest creatures... Froggie and Tortie... muahahaha... spent a lot of effort on this two... very complex models, not one for the faint hearted, though not the toughest i have tried... still... that frog is amazing... so much detail... bulging eyes, fingers and toes, the best frog i have seen so far... previous few come no where close...even i m impressed i managed to fold that... so satisfying...

For the tortoise... not tough... just technical, cannot resist but compare it with the tortoise mama (eileen) folded for me... 3-D shell leh.. dun play play... but have another try... more complex... took me 2 plus hours i think... Tortie's albino cousin.. heh...

Precreasing... took me 45 mins for this part... due to the odd distribution, 39 parts above and 78 parts below...

Identifying and shaping the shell...

Pinching and finalizing the form...

After 2 hours... The tortoise... heh... not bad for a first try... but the paper is too thick as can see from the neck part.. its bulging... either use a bigger piece of paper or a thinner paper... will try 70gm or 80gm A3 paper next time...

Dragon and Lion

Attempted the Lion by Satoshi Kamiya and and easier version of dragon... Satoshi is god... woo... how complicated can his mind be... couldn't get the folds of its mane right... still working on it.. the folds are... out of this world... but pretty decent for a first try... the recommended folding paper is washi paper... what the hell is tat? a 40cmx40cm washi paper.. can anyone tell me where can i get that?

Next was a western dragon... an easier version compared to those by satoshi... not as nice.. but passable...

Kingfisher to Humming Bird

Back in Malaysia, what was i doing during my free time? Fold paper lo... haha... other than the paper money of course... all in the good spirit of Ching Ming... haha... i was thinking if i fold dogs and burn for my ancestors, does it mean they get to keep a pet?

Haha... so i folded horses, rats and whatever those little kids wanted (that i knew of course) and also humming bird... yeah... the humming bird is folded from a similar wing base as the kingfisher... this is the first bird that i tried using the spreaded "fan fold" wings. Also to make the origami more interactive for the kids, i integrated the idea from the traditional flapping crane model (the one where you pull the head and tail for it to flap) in to the hummingbird... by just inward folding the wing edge and base, i am able to gain control of the flapping movemen using only two fingers and a pinching motion... much better right?

To Malaysia and back...

Just back not too long ago from Malaysia. Went over to pay respects to my ancestors and visit relatives of cos... went one level up and across the family tree and well, visited alot of tombs which, i dun really know... but ok... part and parcel of Ching Ming...

Been very long sinced i travelled all the way up to Ipoh, and the first time since i gotten my license. Last time, my dad would drive and the rest of the family would just sleep, but now that i gotten my license, i had to do my part and drive too... haha. Now, i would sit beside dad and help look out for traffic, make sure he don't fall asleep, especially after the accident that took away 4 from a family of 5... CHOY~!!!! Pinky is safe and sound... and blogging... along the way it was scenic...
The trip from Ipoh back home was a whopping 6+ or 7 hour drive... tedious... so we started the journey early in the morning before day break... along the north south highway, Dad promised me a beautiful daybreak if i don't sleep... and it was worth it, i saw the daybreak... pretty cool and beautiful... not something i would see in Singapore... 看了真舒服...
Took a few pictures here and there.. and some interesting things...
Nice sunrise.. got me awake the whole drive... then there are some.. erm... queer things.. malaysians... haiz...
Need tissue? Its next to the bin... Who dare use... Yucks~

音乐才子? Jay Chou is porridge king la... Sedap~!!!
