Gasping...

Its been eons since i last blogged... i'm wondering are there still people reading or visiting this site... Working life haven't been all rosy and nice, it has took at least 5 years off my life. Working till 11pm, reaching home at 12, sleeping at 1am (occasionally if gin calls, then maybe 2), sitting in office at 8.30am... i wonder how long i will last...
i'm definitely prepared to work, beyond working hours, doing whatever needs to be done but its abit too much to ask for isn't it, for someone as new as me? Its just doing what can be done and hoping things turn out right. As the schedules keep changing and changing, i see no end to this project. Looking at all the people who came in at the same time as i did, sometimes i wonder, what ended me in this position? Wish those that knock off punctually will just go off... Ok i get it, you are done with work, yes i know you are going back. Heck, just leave!!! Please, do me a favour... don't say goodbye. They say, don't torture myself, but i don't see myself adhering to this impossible timeline if i don't stay late.
Well a colleague of mine told me, you sometimes get the feeling tha you will just quit tmr and find another job, but once its over, you will be glad you persevered. Well, i'm getting the feeling already. I will walk straight up to my boss and tell her, i quit!!! :P But that will make me a quitter... haiz... no worries, i won't quit, at least not yet. Joan placed me there with high expectations (at least thats what i hoped), and if there's one person i should not disappoint, its her.  Lets hope everything ends well for me to experience the transient "RIP" feeling Ashley was telling me about.
Haven't had time for myself, no time for family, working through weekends, through nights... i'm seriously underpaid. Well i have to say sorry to gin, haven't got time for her (*feeling emo.. sob sob).  Remember myself telling Ashley and Yanni, i enjoy coming to work, really, thinking back, is it still true now? Well yes, to a certain extent, but i shall make a change to it. I don't really enjoy coming to work because of the work, rather, its the people. It used to be Caralle and ashley-s (both ashley)before, now its Yanni and Yong En (Ok to a certain extent michelle). Really thankful that now at least Yanni is sitting in front of me, all the talking cock and me disturbing her and vice-versa really cheered me up. Well i m thankful, and she is kind of an eye candy really =x So happy when splash came in, thought i could start small and start learning. Now... too much to handle, just not up to it. Lets hope everything is worth it.
Hope... but Hope never escaped from Pandora's box...
Well, enough of complaining... i'll get through it just fine, like Pinky always do =P

Yoda...

Was having lunch with Caralle, Adeline and company then Adeline mentioned Miklos was a die-hard fan of star-wars, she was wondering whether I could fold a Yoda with paper. I've done that before, so nothing too new... but this time i folded it with two papers glued back to back so that there is color change. Goodness i discovered brown wrapping paper, if i have used two pieces of 70gm or 80 gm paper, the resulting paper would be too thick to be folded efficiently.

Its now "standing" in front of the yoda, on Miklos' desk. Good colour change model :)

Merlion...

Can recognize what is this? Its actually my 9th attempt (or maybe its 10) at folding a merlion... can recognize or not? The below is a simple fish tail but the problematic part is the head, the overlapping flaps are too messy and complicated... but still dunno how to distribute them properly.
This is my best attempt so far... need more time and tries. But work is getting busy... fast and furious... start to OT liao... kaoz... have less time for origami... how? Will origami end here? haiz... let hope not... merlion... how ah? very difficult leh...

Birds in flight

Haven't been blogging much ever since work started, but still, folding never really stopped~!!! Anyway, folded a couple of birds last week and its kinda detailed. Quite happy with the final outcome. The first was a flying crane, created by Roman Diaz. Especially liked the feet with claws, but not to be folded with normal paper. Its quite a recent discovery, that brown wrapping paper makes very good folds as well, mainly because its thin and at the same time relatively strong. To top that, it takes folds very well and makes shaping after folding easy.

Second work is another of my creation, but i feel its like the best so far. Its folded from a flying goose base, and with my newly discovered brown wrapping paper, i am able to incorporate much of the details in with ease. The focus of my hawk is on the wings and posture, so the rest of it are very much simplified. A pity is that the feets don't come with claws. Will work on that, when i have time. But the next thing i will do is to try the Satoshi Kamiya ancient dragon on brown wrapping paper.

Pinky in Perth... Part 4 (AQWA)

Next stop was a trip to Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA). Its not as big as think it would be, its almost the same as in Sentosa, but the marine animals, like turtles etc are definitely cleaner (at least not moldy). Just take a look at the pictures. I simply love the jelly fishes...

At the entrance of AQWA, on the wall... got something that looks awfully familiar... Art club should know... the decor looks like my 'A' level's art project... Pinky was ahead of his time ok... but the difference is what they have was a photo while my art project is painted with oil... Haaaa~ brings back memories...

Pinky in Perth... Part 3 (Little Creatures)

Well, up next, we drove down to Fremantle, initially planning to have Cicerello's for dinner, together with Danny, Miriam and Weiliang, but they were closed for that day, perhaps we went too late or something. The other restaurant, Kaili's was also closed... Oh shit... so what to do, go to a bar nearby, called "Little Creatures" for dinner.

Little Creatures is an interesting place, but its really really expensive. Its something like a brewery at the back and you can actually see how they make their beer, ale whatever there is. Its kind of an open concept which makes it really interesting. Nothing fantastic but not a bad place to visit. Must try the ales and chilli mussels there!!! And also the wood-fired pizza, especially the leek and potato, darn yummy...

But we returned there again the next day, determined to have seafood. Contemplating between Kaili's or Cicerello's, we decided on Kaili's since gin have tried Cicerello's before. According to gin, the fish at Cicerello's is nicer but Kaili's oysters are juicier and lobsters are slightly better... No wonder they have loyal crowds although they are like just side by side..

After food, take a walk nearby, cos its near the sea, you see alot of seagulls, i was so excited.. first time see seagulls... so swakoo, then u can walk to baskin robbins for ice-cream... wonderful... try world-class chocolates.. recommended by Gin.. and its darn smooth...

Food in Australia is like super ex... but its the norm.. requires some getting used to... :P

4-leaf clover...

Pinky had a dream again... dreamt up the folding of a 4-leaf clover... it is derived from the base as the kawasaki rose leaf from youtube... kawasaki also used the same case for a 3-petal leaf. Its kind of like an improvisation rather... This is prototype one...

It is folded from two pieces of paper... the stem is stick on... Now prototype 2...

It is folded from one piece of paper, a 2 x 1 rectangle...

This is how the behind looks like... This is not exactly easy, its more like moulding than folding already... So its like very much more difficult than the 3 petal kawasaki leaf.
Then there is the 3 leaf clover which is a more common site... its done from a square piece of paper... and looks like this...

These are all inspired by the 3 petal kawasaki leaf which looks like this...

This is folded by Pinky too...

Pinky in Perth... Part 2 (King's Park)

First real tourist destination was a park near UWA, called the King's Park. Its a scenic and beautiful place, lots of beautiful trees... the way the trees curves... the branches...the grass... and fresh air, cool weather... i love it!!

Gin embracing mother nature....

Me taking the path to "The Secret Garden"...

Gin and me... so loving right?

In a corner of the park... there is a "duck pond" where ducks swim... its so relaxed and comfortable watching the ducks swim. We were watching, watching then me and gin decided to chase the ducks.. haha, when ducks run, they wag their 屁股 when they waddle.. so comical... then they will go to the edge of the point and hop, "plonk" into the water... and i ask her to chase again so that i can take a video... haha...

Gin by the "Duck pond"...

Gin chasing ducks...

Taking a slow walk through the park, i've never felt so "good" in a very long time.. but it also depends on who you walk the park with. Singapore lacks such places, its really the place where u get inspiration.. i should have came here during my A levels art project.. but oh well, still got A muahhahaha (*haolian)!!! Reaching the edge of the park, its a breath-taking view of Swan River and Perth city. According to locals, swan sometimes swim inside the river.. thus the name... the night view is equally sublime.

But going to King's park at night to watch the lights, be careful, cos this is a real life experience. Me and Gin were driving home from King's Park at night after watching the city lights, when we saw a white sheet fly towards us and over our car roof. As it passes, the roof crackled and screeched. I was like stunned. On both sides of the roof were super tall trees so its not the branches, and there were no street lamps so i didn't have a very clear view but it was definitely something. I thought it was just me, so i turned and asked Gin, "You saw that?" She was like "No?" But she was slowly sliding down her seat, so I asked again, "You sure? I saw like an apparition or something..."
Then she yelled at me "YES! YES! I SAW IT!! YOU JUST HAD TO ASK AGAIN!!!" Then she went like "AHHHHHH!!!" for like 30 secs... Creepy~...

Pinky in Perth... Part 1 (Introduction)

Finally back from Perth... but its a good trip and a fun experience. Actually should have blogged it long ago... haha but there the network super erm... haha nvm... and also lazy and short of time... so i shall do it now :P

Took an afternoon till night flight, could no slp on that plane, so watch sunset!!!! very pretty...

Perth is like really really cold la... its like 4 degrees or something on the coldest night. Thats pretty cold ok. Got me shivering to the bone. I remember on the coldest night, i pee then got smoke... wooo~

And there was this lemon tree below gin's room... i was like so amazed and thrilled cos i never seen a lemon tree before...

Lemon tree, taken from gin's window...

Ok... for like the first few days, i was like keeping gin company studying in school cos her exams are still going on, and she studies in school, more efficient. Other than that she still has to do testing, and they do testing on humans.. haha, dunno test for wat la... human guinea pigs..

This is the human movement testing lab...

Look what they do, weird tanks and computers linked to the treadmill with wires...

Gin fixing the wires..

Look!! They can power a computer with that cycle (like hamsters)!!! Amazing~

So what do i do in the mean time? origami la... and i did quite a lot there, littered gin's table with it and wow-ed her classmates.

Thats me doing origami on Gin's table...

Thats something new I did!!! Origami eastern dragon!!

Lets do some introduction of her classmates... alot of wonderful people.

This is Danny. My origami disciple as you can see, happily folding. He is a gym instructor and a Human Movement (HM) student.

This is Weiliang, soccer coach (the dodgy and no certificate kind) and HM student. Also my euro-buddy in Australia.

This is Esther, according to legends, she is a burper. But she cooks damn well... HM student as well...

This is Aaron. HM's 副班长. People call him Fishball Yeo cos his face is round.

This girl beside Danny is Miriam, also from HM. She was the one who sent me to and from airport. She is a professional church choir singer. Don't see her so smiley, she is the holder of the Singapore A and B Division record for 100m and 400m hurdles. One of them is broken by a Singapore sport's school student, I forgot which one, the other record is still standing. Fierce~!! (somehow she reminds me of 何润东, I think they look alike)

This is Taku, a Japanese doing his HM PhD. He is like one of the top swimmer during his time (I think in butterfly or freestyle), and is ever ranked 4th in his country. He also had a world ranking... dun play play... (the food he cooks are delicious)

To be continued...
