Hideo Komatsu

Hideo Komatsu is a master of origami... his animals have a certain likeness and realism... luv them... two of them here... the Kingfisher and the giraffe... super tough... especially the giraffe... i didn't seem to get the the legs and neck right though... need more practice... the precrease (preparing the paper before the actual folding) took like 45 mins to one hour...
This is the giraffe precrease... a blurry intersection of lines... the giraffe turned out fine, except for the legs, abit too thin... must be something i did in between...
But the kingfisher is super neat... a super clever model. He modelled the wing part with a fan fold spread out at the ends... super smart fold. Love the wings, its probably one of the best birds i folded... probably the best winged animal so far. The wings i have folded previously were just angled fan folds, just creasing in and out to suggest the wings, something to examine when folding winged creatures next time, addition to my "arsenal" haha... amazing model, in queen-pig terms, HEART the kingfisher...

PUPPIES!!!!!!!

Well i think its saturday... yep, saturday, nothing better to do, wanted to fold a dog, but other than the one i folded the last time, like no good models around. But a dog should not be that difficult right? hehe... so i created one... actually i couple... just change the head... but its created out of a simple four legged base, similar to the one i used for the rabbit. Hmmm... i think it took me like 3 hours? maybe 4 and about 10 sheets of A4 paper to get my first proto-type. Presenting... heh
This is prototype one. First successful try. However, you can see that the legs are not very well done, relying purely on pinch folding but pretty decent i would think... the form of it is quite obviously a dog, or puppy rather...
This one was a more successful try. Folded this with a daschund in mind, included a couple of sink folds to make the forelegs part look thinner, hence making the legs seem longer. Double creased the forelegs to make them look better, though it shortens them. But overall a better try than the previous.
Third one, created this with a pug in mind... but failed, though it now looks like a St. Bernard puppy. However the limitation of this model is the proportions, the legs are too short, if i lengthen them, the body will have to be thinner, then they look malnutritioned. So all of them look like puppies rather than dogs... well... work on them more... but pretty proud of them. My third personal creation after the rabbit and lizard... So satisfied :)

No more hall

Haven't been blogging... again.. lazy? No... internet problems... but no more internet worries... goodbye starhub, cos i'm Mio-ing... haha

扉をあけよう --- Tobira wo akeyou

Love this song... have been wanting to try it, but saw the score, got turned off... too tough.. haha at B-flat minor, its got 5 flats and the chords are killer... however still a very nice song from Yukie Nishimura... simply luv her... Have time to practice cos... FYP OVER OVER OVER OVER OVER!!!!!
This song apparently means "open the heart"... such a nice song, the bulk of the songs are played in black keys if you noticed... i simplified the song abit, omitted a few notes here and there but retain the original melody... hope you enjoy it as much as i played it...

For Queen-Pig's reference..

Found my long lost squirrel diagrams buried deep within my computer... my com's in a utter mess and i shall format and clean my lappy up once FYP is submitted... just in case i deleted something important...

Anyways, two different diagrams by two different folders with very different approaches. The Western approach by Michael la Fosse (American) and the Eastern approach by Hideo Komatsu (Jap). The focus is different, both look like squirrels, but for Hideo (yellow squirrel), his focus was more on the tail, making it more 3-D, limbs and other features are simplified, for Michael (Green squirrel) his focus was more on details and forms than making it 3-D. Michael model is flat if you noticed, whereas for Hideo's its "airy, bloated", and cannot be flattened.

Both are folded from A4 paper and equally challenging. Not tough, but will be a handful for most. Which do i like more? My vote goes to Hideo... Simply luv the tail...

Star wars?

My violinist really that bad meh... my friend told me it looks like star wars figure... :(
never watched star wars... but hey friend... guess what... i made a star wars figure anyway... Jedi Master Yoda... Too bad i dun have double sided colored paper... the cloak is suppose to be a different color... nvm... after that, Eileen Kieo's bear... bugging me for a bear so long liao... slipped my mind...

Leafy Music...

Haven't been blogging... busy... FYP and stuff.. but its finally over... relief... FYP not something spectacular but at least i finished it decently, in my opinion that is... hah... Anyway, a couple of things to be happy about, got an A for my imagining imprisonment, much to the dismay of many... and YES JASMINE... its an A... dun suspect anything... now dilemma dunno which to SU. I thought maybe because my class a lot of Indonesian and well i gotta thank them in some way. Well Prof also said he gave credit to those with good handwriting because there are some atrocious ones that doubled his marking time... haha, so it pays to write neatly, or at least legibly.

Ok... hit by an inspiration this morning and decided to pen down this melody, jot down the chords and wrote it in overture (a software for musical transcription), and printed it out, cos I dun have manuscript pad in my hall, drawing lines are too tedious and untidy... haha... its kinda like a draft one, still need to refine...

Well, here is my first composition of 2008, "The Lass Faraway"(didn't know what to call it, Gin suggested this), for the special girl in my life, well she is pretty faraway... enjoy...

Next is a song by Ah Sang... 叶子... nice song... like it, but if you watched the MTV, i thought Selina sang so much better than her... ok, personal view...
