Hideo Komatsu

Hideo Komatsu is a master of origami... his animals have a certain likeness and realism... luv them... two of them here... the Kingfisher and the giraffe... super tough... especially the giraffe... i didn't seem to get the the legs and neck right though... need more practice... the precrease (preparing the paper before the actual folding) took like 45 mins to one hour...
This is the giraffe precrease... a blurry intersection of lines... the giraffe turned out fine, except for the legs, abit too thin... must be something i did in between...
But the kingfisher is super neat... a super clever model. He modelled the wing part with a fan fold spread out at the ends... super smart fold. Love the wings, its probably one of the best birds i folded... probably the best winged animal so far. The wings i have folded previously were just angled fan folds, just creasing in and out to suggest the wings, something to examine when folding winged creatures next time, addition to my "arsenal" haha... amazing model, in queen-pig terms, HEART the kingfisher...
